Welcome to the Drymen Show Website

The Annual extravaganza, that is Drymen Show, is set to take place on Saturday 26th May, 2012.  It’s a fantastic day out for all the family right in the heart of Scotland’s first National Park and one of the biggest events on the country calendar. It has everything you’d expect including animal and stock classes showcasing the agricultural community at its best, delicious food, children’s’ activities and amusements, great shopping, countryside activities and an exciting Main Ring programme.

Entertaining the crowds in the afternoon again will be Riders of the Storm who are a unique & exciting equestrian stunt team based in Highland Perthshire.  They offer a vast array of tricks, flips and stunts choreographed together to make a spectacular performance. Always pushing the boundaries, creating new and exciting stunts, this year’s spectacular will also include one of Britain’s youngest trick riders, at only nine years old!

As well as displays of horsemanship, the Scottish Terrier Racing Team are sure to attract the crowds. With the help of some of the fastest terriers in the UK, they race a team of ten terriers all dressed up in mini costumes. Their oldest dog is Megan who, at 8 years old, pulls a small cart around like a pony and trap which all the kids love to see. We are delighted that the once again Strathendrick Pipe Band will be making an appearance. As well as providing music throughout the day they will be leading the ever impressive parade of prize winners in the main ring.

Iain Chalmers will be showing us some precision work with his chainsaw.  Iain has been carving wooden works of art for many years and his creations include animals, fish, birds and even people.  In the sheep shearing marquee visitors will be able to see some of our local shearers demonstrate their skill and craftsmanship.

Competition will be fierce in the SWRI & Schools marquee.  The ladies of the local rural’s will be hoping their home baking & handicrafts come out on top and in the other half of the marquee local school pupils will be displaying their written and art work and looking for that coveted 1st prize.

Further up the show field local football teams will be giving their all on the pitch to try and win the coveted trophy. And there will be space hopper football this year as well with the Stirling, Strathendrick, and Strathkelvin young farmers returning to the main ring.

There are plenty of other things for kids to do elsewhere in the Show field: with the funfair and amusement stands, children’s races in the main ring and once again the Royal Highland Education Trust will be bringing along Mabel the cow.  This great interactive attraction allows children to see where their glass of milk they have for breakfast comes from.

There are also opportunities for the younger family members to show off their pets in the rabbits, dogs & poultry classes.
Exhibitors will be travelling from all over Scotland to show their Cattle, Sheep, Horses, Alpacas, Rabbits, Poultry & vintage machinery and compete for the red rosettes!    Visitors will have the opportunity to see close up, some of the finest animals and exhibits in Scotland.

In the horse rings horse owners from all over Scotland will be competing against each other for the prizes.  In addition some classes give the chance to qualify for the Royal Highland Show at Ingliston.

For those of you looking for an overhead view of the show we hope that, weather permitting the Helicopters will be offering  trips on the day.

Trade Stand space is selling quickly and we hope to have a varied range of stands for visitors to the show to browse.  Those in attendance will be selling clothing, footwear, crafts and gifts, food and drink, garden equipment and plants, furniture, cars, agricultural machinery and much more.  Already confirmed is a climbing wall where you can challenge your friends and family to reach the summit first.
